Tailor-made box for a special prize – Lakenhal museum

January 1, 2024

Ceramic designer Judith Bloedjes created a prize object for the winner of the Doesjenel prize: the Doesjenel circle. This biennial prize has been initiated by Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden (NL) for ground-breaking and interdisciplinary work by young artists.

It was a special moment to spot our tailor-made box for the prize, created by Wilma van Driel from Bookbindery Papyrus and myself | Anna in Paperland on display in the museum.

Wilma and I worked closely together and used 110 parts to create 5 boxes with inserts that enclose each handmade object down to the millimetre and with envelopes for a personal letter in the lid of the box. The colours for the paper for the boxes were mixed by hand to colour coordinate with the yarn used by Judith and with the Doesjenel colour scheme. Each biennal edition will be given its own colour.
The logo imprint was expertly done by Bert Rigters, Papyrus Private Press.

You can still see the exhibition of the three nominated artists G.C. Heemskerk, Kwinnie Lê and Emma van Noort, together with the prize in its tailormade box in Leiden until January 7, 2024.
