Bookbinding Exposition Hoorn, NL

Bookbinding Exposition Hoorn, NL

October 3, 2019 –

I’m still pinching myself that for the first time one of my bindings is on display here in The Netherlands. Today was the book launch and opening of the bookbinding exhibition. The exposition is organised by bookbinder Marja Wilgenkamp and author André Nuyens who wrote the historical book called De Belofte. It’s about a girl who disguised as a boy, travels on a ship from Europe/Holland to the Indies to find her love.

For this exposition I first bound the sections of André’s book and made a variation of the Origata binding after the design by Julie Auzillon. The book fits in the Japanese magic box where both the book and accompanying Asian herbs & teas are in the different, hidden compartments. The marbled vintage maps I used, are marbled by Jemma Lewis Marbling.
.
You can see all the entries up till 15th of January 2020 at three different locations in Hoorn.
